UK indie Me+You Productions has struck a global distribution deal with BBC Worldwide for the Karl Pilkington scripted comedy series Sick Of It.
Produced by Me+You and Pilkington’s indie Alrite Productions, the 6 x 30 mins scripted series was recently announced as part of Sky 1’s comedy drive.
Starring Karl Pilkington, directed by Richard Yee and written by Pilkington and Yee, Sick Of It will be a lead title at BBC Worldwide Showcase 2018 in Liverpool.
The series follows Pilkington after he loses his long-term girlfriend and finds himself living with his elderly American Auntie. As he struggles to move on, get his life in order, and start dating again, the voice inside his head – who takes the form of a grumpy doppelgänger – pops up to annoy him when he’s stressed, criticise him when he messes up, and to dispense his odd philosophy about the world.
Sick of It is due to TX on Sky 1 in the UK later this year.
BBC Worldwide’s commercial director for comedy Jonathan Blyth, said: “We’re thrilled to be back in business with Karl and Me & You Productions, and further build on our burgeoning relationship. With past successes like An Idiot Abroad and The Moaning of Life, we’re looking forward to making Sick of It a global hit. We think international audiences will love it and they won’t be… well, ‘Sick of It’.”
