BBC Radio 1 Front Nations and Regions Media Conference

BBC Radio 1 presenters Katie Thistleton and Jordan North (pictured) will front the Nations and Regions Media Conference this year.

The duo will introduce a day of showcases, discussions and debates under the strapline Radio For The 21st Century.

The event will take place 19th April at the University of Salford’s MediaCityUK campus and will focus on radio and audio production outside London, covering music, documentaries, drama along with other genres. Broadcasters slated to take part in the event include BBC Radio 2, Radio Ulster, Audible and the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland.

Now in its 24th year, the conference was started by Granada Television chairman David Plowright and the University of Salford. It was designed to give a platform for the media industry outside the capital and has become a regular fixture in the media calendar.

This year, ITV presenter Lucy Meacock will present the first ever Ray Fitzwalter Award – a £4,000 cash prize for the best investigative journalism outside London.
